Installation, Test & Commissioning

IPS has one of the largest LU specialist teams consisting of approx 110 site operatives with varied skill sets from Labourer to Commissioning Engineers. Projects include the communication installations for 74 London Underground stations (including Communications modernisation at King’s Cross St Pancras Station) and CAT5 LAN data installation in the ticket offices for all Southern Rail Stations. Please refer to our case studies for a further insight into the projects we have carried out.

All our employees receive Technical Standards training in our validation suite via our Training Co-Ordinator. Our review of technical standards is an ongoing process. The results of the ever increasing number of these standards ensure that all aspects of our installation, commissioning and maintenance activities are covered by ‘best practice’ (gained by many years of experience from our Site Supervisors). The objective of these standards is to reduce rework and improve customer satisfaction.

IPS Installation Strengths

• Provides the complete turn-key solution from design to handover and maintenance.

• Maintains a flexible workforce with the ability to adapt to customers’ needs and mobilise at short notice.

• Ability to respond to site shift patterns (traffic & engineering hours).

• Vast amount of experience in the rail industry.

• Close co-operation between site and management.

• Secure and managed store (accommodates IPS and customer stock).

• Maintains a consumable stock which provides a rapid response to site needs.

• Dedicated fleet of vehicles to transport materials to customer sites (each vehicle is fitted with a ‘tracker’).

IPS has a team of Project Managers who have a vast amount of knowledge and experience of working within London Underground, Network Rail and the Public Sector. IPS has developed its own intranet based management system which tracks training, plant, timesheets, live job cost reporting, document control, stores and procurement and includes full cost and profit analysis.

In-House Training Facility

As part of our commitment to staff training and our licensing scheme we have developed our own training facility that houses equipment and systems on almost all of London Underground/TFL’s existing communication assets.

Our training suite is used by both our engineers and customers to train their staff on both new and legacy equipment available in the transportation sector. By inducing faults on the equipment, users are able to locate the problem in a controlled environment without causing disruption to a working station.
