Service Update Boards
In May 2009 IPS was awarded a contract by London Underground (LU) to supply and install Electronic Service Update Boards (ESUBs) in ticket halls on LU stations. Acting as Principal Contractor IPS has installed 110 units to date with additional units being rolled out as future station refurbishments take place.
“IPS delivered to the projects expectations within tight timescales enabling LUL to achieve a key delivery milestone.
Their ability to react quickly when required and to take responsibility where necessary has made them a valuable asset to this project.”
Nigel White
Project Manager, LU Information Management
With more than one billion passengers carried on the tube each year (source: TFL) LU identified the need to replace the white boards, which require manually updating, with Electronic Service Update Boards which are automatically updated from a central source.
IPS was also responsible for designing the containment system, power supply and data supply requirements as well as installing the most suitable mounting option (pedestal, wall or ceiling).
Interesting Project Facts
1. The ESUB installed at Chesham is the furthest from Central London.
2. There is an ESUB installed in LU head office at 55 Broadway, SW1
3. The ESUB in Paddington Lawn is on a wireless link to the network
