IPS is Awarded DVR Upgrade Contract
With the Olympics just around the corner there is a greater need than ever to improve the CCTV system within the London Underground (LU) to provide heightened security and crowd control.
LU looked into providing CCTV images from the LU infrastructure to the British Transport Police (BTP) facility and identified that the BTP CCTV assets were in need of urgent upgrading. IPS has been awarded the contract to upgrade 120 new Digital Video Recorders (DVR) at over 60 stations. The contract has already commenced and is due for completion around March 2012.
This project has a huge number of benefits including; centralised documentation, live streaming and recorded CCTV images over an IP network. There are technical scenarios for each station depending on the existing equipment in place and the contract includes wiring and commissioning activities.
