Cooling the Tube

IPS carried out the installation of control equipment at various stations and transmission media between the station and vent shafts on the Victoria line.

The project entailed installation of fibre optic cable, equipment, associated copper cabling and incidental works as part of the Victoria line Mid-Tunnel Vent Shafts works. Fibre optic cable was installed between the mid-tunnel vent shaft and its designated primary station along the connecting running tunnel as well as copper cable and cable containment within the station area.

Communication with existing systems including fire and ‘Connect’ was needed as well as the design and fabrication of control units in the station operations room.

“I have been extremely happy with the way the IPS team have conducted works on the two tranches of the Station & Tunnel works to enable the Cooling the Tube Programme. They have a ‘can-do’ attitude which is refreshing. The team are extremely knowledgeable and proactive. They have integrated with us and we have delivered as ‘one team’.

I would have no hesitation in recommending IPS as a competent contractor in the future.”
